Jordi Gumà-Lao is currently a Ramón y Cajal Fellow Research Scientist at the Centre d'Estudis Demogràfics (CED) in Barcelona, Spain, and a Guest Researcher at the Centre for Demographic and Ageing Research (CEDAR) in Umeå (Sweden). He earned his PhD in Demography from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2014 after being enrolled in the European Doctoral School of Demography (2010-2011) at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Germany) and the University of Lund (Sweden). His research is grounded in the fields of sociology of health and population studies, with a focus on gender perspectives. Specifically, his contributions include advancing knowledge on the intersection between social determinants of health in determining health inequalities, investigating the well-being consequences of gender attitudes in adult and elder couples, and exploring the spillover-crossover effect of unemployment of adult children on their parents. He has been awarded with the Juan de la Cierva fellowship (2016) and the Spanish R+D+I program for Young Researchers (JIN). His research findings have been published in top field journals such as Social Science & Medicine, BMC Public Health, Ageing & Mental Health, and Demographic Research."
