“In work poverty is in the rise. The rise in in work poverty is problematic because if work does not necessarily protect from poverty it follows that job creation by itself is unlikely to solve poverty. Taking the UK as a case study this talk will address the following questions: what are the factors behind the increase in work poverty? Who experiences in work poverty? And How common are entries and exits from in work poverty, and what events are associated with such transitions? The talk will draw on evidence of a recent project with Rod Hick (Cardiff University)”.
